Time to Go

(4.6 / 5)

I've been very pleased with StarTex Power however when my 1 year contract is up in a few weeks my rate will jump 6 cents a Kwh !! It's time to start shopping around. I really don't want to leave but I can't afford the higher rates.

Bill pay problem

(3.6 / 5)

I am in Texas. I mailed my payment to them on the 6th along with 2 other bills from the same mailbox. The other 2 bills posted to my account on the 12th. I got a disconnect notice from infinite energy on the 18th. Customer service explained to me that billing was done in Texas and reported to them. He was not allowed to tell me if it was a contract service but he did tell me that they have had many other complaints. I set up auto pay so we will see how that goes.

Simple Power Variable Plan

(3.3 / 5)

I chose Simple Power's variable plan in March 2010 based solely on price. They switched me off-cycle and did not pass the fee on to me. I missed my second bill from them, and emailed them receiving no response. I had to call them in order to get a bill generated for the month of April. Having been a previous employee of my TDU, I contacted a friend at TNMP to find out that my meter had been estimated for the month. I finally received my bill from Simple Power and have received my May and June bills without issues. I do say I am surprised that they did not have an exception process in place to "catch" my account not billing in April due to the estimate. If they do, my account fell through the cracks. Before receiving the estimated bill, I read my meter and calculated an amount based on that consumption and mailed that payment to them so my May bill wasn't going to be an inflated catch up bill. Other than that issue, great company, good prices, easy to read bills....simple.

Georgia Natural Gas

(3.2 / 5)

Overall GNG is meh. They have outdated pay options. We had to call in to pay for a couple of months because setting up the card online using their system is a bit of a hassle. They aren't the cheapest either; however, the people are nice and patient.

My initial price was good. I thought I had signed up for a plan that gave a 45 dollar credit each month if I used below a certain amount of electricity. I might have read that wrong, because turns out they were deducting that from the hefty deposit they require. Near the end of my subscription they did try to do a bait and switch on my account, to switch me onto a plan that charges a lot more, but they do send you a notice, and give you plenty of time to switch to another electricity provider. Despite this my electric bill was about the same as it was at my last residence, and I have a bigger apartment too.
But really, it's a company like any other. They all try to take advantage of you, so it's not surprising when they change price plans. You just need to be aware that this might occur.
On a side note, the online system is difficult to use.

Do yourself a favor and find another company

(1.8 / 5)

I had YEP energy for a couple of years and for the most part everything seemed to be OK. Their plans and pricing was competitive. The account was for a property that I was trying to sell so my usage was very low. I noticed that my bill jumped one month and when I went to investigate I found that they hit me with a disconnect/reconnect fee. When I called to discuss why that was I was told that they had every right to charge me that fee if I did not pay within 26 days of the invoice date. Keep in mind this has never been an issue before. When I paid the fee and decided to move on they re-issued another disconnect/reconnect fee for a 7 day period. These guys are crooks. Do yourself a favor and find another company. They will do everything within their power to inflate your bill with charges that are not warranted.

Leaving After 17 Years

(1 / 5)

If I could I would give TXU zeros across the board. We have been customers for 17 years and never had a bill much over $200. In November a "smart" meter was installed. The first month we did notice anything. In December the bill was a little over $400, we were shocked, but didn't say anything we just lower the thermostat a little and were careful using electricity. In January the bill was $979! TXU and Oncor says that it is our fault. My husband has spent hours on the phone with TXU and Oncor trying to work with them. He has been professional and patient. TXU and Oncor have been arrogent, unprofessional and down right nasty. We preformed an energy audit and had a heating/ac guy out to check the heat pump. Nothing was found we did the audit. The heating/ac guy said our unit was getting old, but preforming well and didn't need to be replaced. Oncor "claims" they checked the "smart" meter and say there's nothing wrong with it. My husband finally paid bill, but put a note in saying that TXU was unfair and he was paying under protest. When TXU recieved the bill they called him and told that they would not cash the check and were turning us over to a collection agent and charging us late fees until a new check was sent. How arrogent and unprofessional can one be? Needless to say we are changing companies. Sadly, we still have to deal with Oncor.

Do not switch to Everything Energy

(0.6 / 5)

Everything Energys accounts department is totally dysfunctional. My payments are made by check through a service provided by my bank. The Everything Energy accounts dept. seem to be unable to credit my account with the payments. We received a disconnect notice and called their customer service center and explained that the payments were made and we have a copy of the cleared check stamped by their bank, BNY Mellon with the date. The cancelled was forwarded to them and after numerous calls the payment was mysteriously located. This exact scenario occurred again the following month. It has taken considerable time and effort to resolve this.
I will be sending a registered letter to the president of the company:
Mr. John Ragan
211 Carnegie Center Drive
Princeton, NJ 08540
with a complaint regarding the problems with Everything Energy.
I would discourage anyone from considering Everything Energy as their electric service provider

Horrible Customer "Service" and Billing Issues

(0 / 5)

Note that I did not skip the ratings, this company really does not deserve one single light bulb. I was forced to this company when Texas Power went down. The first thing in the mail I received from Everything Enema was a disconnect notice. I called them up and was told there were issues with the merger and we will waive the fee. I use online banking to pay all of my bills. So I proceeded to make the payment minus the late fee. The next month I receive a bill including the previous and NEW late fees as well as a disconnect fee and 2 days later another disconnect notice. I call them up again and short story after telling them I wanted these fees removed I was given the option to remove the highest late fee and pay all others or waive nothing. Then I asked to explain why I am receiving late and disconnect notices when I pay my bill well in advance. I was told they have an issue with the online bill pay with my bank. They received my payment 5 days prior to due date but did not apply it. Yes you read that right, the woman told me they had it on their desk in time. I was told to avoid this issue to pay thru their website. Also I asked how much a contract termination fee was. I was told $120. I told her to expect that because by the time I would reach the end of my contract I will have paid more than that in bogus late and disconnect fees. In the meantime I thought I would try their website. Well, I tried that today and they are having errors and I could not log in.
