Bad Costumer service.
“ Please do not use this company for Gas. The bills are going from $75 to $499, no explanation. The worst part. They don't reply to emails and put you on hold for a long time to speak to a manager, but that person can't decide to fix the accounts. This place is frustrating, and they take your money without any explanation. PLEASE GO WITH ANOTHER COMPANY. The reviews are accurate at Yelp on this website, they only show the positive. Gas South has Bad customer service, takes your money, and no one communicates. They disconnected my account, but I had a renewal sign. I am getting charged, and no service, email, or call, and no one answers to give me my money back. This is crazy. ”

Ripped Off In Georgia
“ This is by far the worst company that I have ever been with. This was my first time dealing with gas, so I choose Scana, the biggest mistake I have made. They should really be called SCAMMERS. I've only been with them since October 2023, I've been paying the bill in full up until February, so I had a past due balance of 80.00, the bill was due on March 15th total due 285.26, on March 13th I paid the bill in full only to find out that after I paid they turned my gas off. They claimed that they sent me two notices in the mail saying that if the past due balance wasn't paid by March 12th that my service would be disconnected. I never received any notifications, if I had received it I would have paid it. Now I have to pay another 225.00, and I still will be without gas until tomorrow. I told these folks that I'm disabled and in a wheelchair and on fixed income and they still didn't give a damn about me. I'm going to put in a complaint with Georgia Public Service Commission and I hope they they are punished in some ways to make them lose money and for ripping off their customers. I know that I will tell everyone that will hear me don't ever use Scana and pass it on because the first chance I get I'm out and never coming back to this greedy ripoff company. ”

Horrible horrible and slow service
“ They disconnect service without courtesy calling or emailing. Dont have same day service and very limited customer service hours. Their representatives dont even know the customer service hours. When you need you reach a specific department they transfer you and then it goes to voicemail. Its a joke. ”

Rip off!!!!!
“ One of their techs turned my gas off and I went from Thursday to Tuesday evening without hot water or heat. I reported it as soon as I went to my door and there was a disconnect tag on my door. It was a blank tag. I called scana energy because that's who I pay to.. well they are the marketers. I called them 2 to 3x to report my mishap. They claimed my service wasn't disconnected and suggested that I call someone to come check my hot water heater. Ok ... exactly what I did. The HVAC contractor couldn't light my heater or find anything wrong with it. So he asked about my gas meteretc after going to find out if there were something wrong with it. The gas was turned off. So I paid for the reconnection and service charge. It was $225 waaaay more than my bill. And these crooks are too prideful to take responsibility for their tech making a mistake in turning my gas off. They say it was never disconnected. !!!!! I know I didn't have any heat or hot water! I had to boil my water on my electric stove and was cold in my house like the ac was on!!! They said they won't reimburse me!!! So I'm out $225 because of their butts! There's no one going around in the neighborhoods turning off people's gas! I wish there were other alternatives than using their services!!! Yes I'm highly pissed because things are expensive as it is without y'all ripping people off!!!!! That dang tech that y'all sent out knows there was something off about the number of the meter and of course y'all sent someone out after I paid to turn it back on!!! Talking about it wasn't disconnected! It wasn't then when he came out! TF! ”

More Bad News
“ After being on the phone several hours today with SCANA they agreed to waive the reconnection fees for a disconnection that never should have happened. They said they won't be able to reconnect my gas today and can only do that on Friday(48 hours after disconnection). Normally they give a 4-hour window for reconnection and someone 18+ has to be present for the technician to do the reconnection...tomorrow they could only give me an 8-hour window for reconnection (8am-4pm). I will have to miss a whole day of work waiting on the technician to turn my gas back on. SCANA says they will not credit me back for my day of missed work. All of this for a disconnection that never should have happened. The full payment they were requesting was delivered before the time they specified in the notice. Now all this is my problem apparently....buyer beware! ”

Very Poor Communication and Misleading
“ Signed up for a four month plan for my business. Was told by salesman they I would be notified when the plan was up so I could renew. They never contacted me plus my monthly charge even when I didn't use any gas was 74.00. It went up to 86.00 without notice. The notice came two weeks after it went up. Scheduled a disconnect late in July and was finally turned off first week in August and got charged for the full month of August. Received a late bill before I even got my regular bill. Received four bills in early July, each with different totals. I never missed a payment and have the records to prove it. I was promised refunds and discounts that never happened. Once I dropped service they started offering me all kinds of discounts and restaurant gift cards. Very disappointed in my experience. ”

Ability to cancel service when relocating out of Georgia
“ Able to quickly cancel all other Georgia utilities when relocating. On hold multiple times and disconnected with GNC. Currently on hold for over 1 hour. Totally unacceptable! You can immediate get help to sign up for a new account, but not to cancel services when you are moving out of Georgia. ”

“ The worst customer service call I have ever experienced! I had to hold for over 30 minutes to get thru and then the customer rep disconnected me just as we were going to sign up for new fixed rate plan. Will explore other providers. ”

Predator company
“ I had never had issues with utility companies until I had trouble with gas south. After leaving them I swore I would never do business with them again. Then Gas South bought my existing energy company and the underhanded tactics were started. I had a season plan with bills around 130. My final bill jumped 400 dollars. When I did not pay immediately, my gas was disconnected (it was scheduled to be turn off at this time) and I was charged additional fees. I was told by there legal department I had a final amount. I paid the inflated final amount. two days later I was sent an additional bill and I am still being billed. Gas South is a terrible company. ”

Worst company, horrible experience

Background: I set up auto-pay from the beginning using their service, the auto-pay was always working until there was one day, the gas was disconnected, I had no idea what's wrong with it, thinking about there might be an outage, I submitted a ticket and also emailed their customer service asking for a reason. Nobody replied to me, then a day after, I called their customer service, they told me there was a problem happened on auto-pay, so the payment did not go through for 2 months, then they disconnected my gas. They charged me a $60 re-connection fee and a $25 deposit to get me re-connected. I immediately paid the 2 months payment manually when the customer service told me the auto-pay was not working.
What did I do? I trusted their auto-pay system, but there was a problem. I trusted the customer service would know the problem is caused by their system, not me, but they did not take the responsibility. I trusted them that they would send me a notification if the payment did not go through, they didn't even send one and did not even respond to my ticket. What do they need? They just need their customers to pay for their fault.
Then I decided not to go further with this horrible company, and they charged me an additional $60 termination fee and a non-explanation base fee. How comes? The last month was already my last month in the contract, and the customer service told me that there will be no more fee charged if you close your account, your renewal will be automatically canceled. But their customer service cheated me! Their customer service also framed that I never used auto-pay, and I sent them the monthly email proof, and they never respond to me! See they do not need proof, they need $$$.
How horrible, my husband and I even doubt if they disconnect customers' auto-pay on purpose and charge them reconnection fee or termination fee to make money. These bad guys, are greedy not only make money from their normal gas provide but also their bad customer service. What can we do? We do not want to spend time on these rogue, we can only tell others these experiences, tell them that this company is not going to be responsible for their fault.
Guys please DO NOT use this company, DO NOT enroll in their auto-pay because that little discount will not cover your further trouble (both money and time) cost on them. Tell your friends and families to get away from them so your life will be so much easier!!! ”
