Excellent Service
Had to transfer service from old place to new place. Damairas was outstanding in his customer service. I have been with Gas South for years and I am very pleased about being a customer with this company. I did a follow up call as well to confirm on the day of and Thomas was great as well. Everything went as discussed. Great customer service!

I recently received notification to renew my one price service plan. Customer care agent Ms. TES went over the plan in an honest, respectful, and courteous manner. Her customer service was simply (5) FIVE star and above.

Good gas
Got a good package when I really needed it (in December). Customer service is great and I especially appreciate the chat support. Useful opportunities to extend the payment time if that is needed. My only problem was the unclarity about paying Gas South for gas and paying AGL for transportation - that almost doubled the expected cost. More information about that part would be helpful when a customer enrolls into any type of contract.

Bad policy on Due Dates
Gas South changes their due dates every month causing late fees if you do not notice it. I was told by CS that the bills are sent when Atlanta Gas Light reads the meter. That is fine but the due date should always be the same day. Last month mine was due 5 days earlier than the previous month, causing my payment to be late. Gas South needs to amend their automated billing to make the due date the same day regardless of when the bill is sent. Most people get paid the same day each month and pay their bills on that day or automate bill payments based on that paycheck date. This moving of due dates by Gas South will always make customers late on their payments and shows Gas South is completely out of touch with the majority of its customer base and their financial setup.

Excellent Customer/Order Service Representative
I called Gas South directly to confirm that my new service order (placed through GA Power's transfer to a 3rd party company) was scheduled because I did not receive any email confirmations. In calling, I was blessed to speak with ALMA the most professional and highly trained, not to mention personable & patient, representative that I have had the pleasure to encounter in years. I had numerous questions (some of which were repetitive), but she responded positively and answered each one completely, to ensure my understanding. ALMA provided all of the details and was able to schedule an earlier connection date.
In this post-pandemic time, the idea of legendary customer service has been lost to people just occupying a position/job. I can absolutely and emphatically say that ALMA displayed "legendary and exceptionally, excellent service" from start to finish of the call. Gas South has a remarkable employee in ALMA and I pray this review will help her to be recognized & hopefully compensated for such service. It would be stellar if all corporate companies would incentivize to show appreciation to their outstanding employees. I hope the gas service itself over the next months will be as great. Thank you.

High gas bill
I was on a 24 month plan I thought but turned out was only a 12 month plan and that was fine . So now Im being charged $340 gas bill and noticed Im being charged 1.97 pre therm when new comers are being charged 61 cents pre therm . Wow not a very good way to treat long term customer . I do hvac for a living and already checked for gas leaks and I have only two gas appliances in my home and they are high efficiency systems. No way should my gas bill be this high.

Late Fee Late Fee Late fee
I pay my bills timely and am never late for any of them but with Gas South they have a great money making invention.. Just send the bill with a narrow margin of time to make the payment so we can assess a late fee and get $10 more for each bill.. The past 3 months I have paid within the first week of the month and on 2 of the three I have been assessed a late fee. I paid on the 3rd of Jan and got a fee. I paid on the 6th of Feb and got a fee. I have been receiving the bills the last week of the month and paying 4 or 5 days later and they are late. I pay online this is not going through postal mail. I have dropped Gas South like a hot potato and their should be an investigation by the PSC in Georgia for criminal behavior. Basically you can't pay your bill in time to avoid a late fee unless you pay it the day it hits your mailbox. CROOKS!

Horrible practices
We have been with Gas South for 4 years. Last year we tried the budget plan but it was never the same amount, nor would it be billed on the same dates. I put all my bills on the calendar to pay each month on their due dates and this company bills different every month. I got constant late notices after even a day, then our rated more than doubled without being notified and then comes the disconnect notices.
Everyone seems to complain about everything these days but I never do. In this case I have to complain. I may even look into the Georgie Public Service Commission to file a complaint.

Misleading locked in rate
I was locked in for .59 per therm until 11/30/25. I changed to different gas company to start 1/1/26. I expected to pay the variable rate from 12/1/25-12/31/25. Instead I paid variable rate from 11/11/25-12/31/25 at a rate of $2.07. I feel I overpaid for 19 days. Totaling up to $268.44 too much. Gas Souths answer is I had 12 billing periods at .59. My point is I should have had it until 11/30/25. Very disappointed.

If you have another choice, make it. If not, keep ALL billing statements for at least 10 years after stopping service. Otherwise you may wake up one day to an email from Equifax stating that Gas South has reported your 8 yr old account as in collections.
1. April 9, 2025, I am notified by Experian and Equifax that a collection account has been reported by a collection agency called Transworld. I have never been contacted by them to dispute this debt.
2. I reached out to Gas South the same day via email. A Gas South representative responded and stated that the $500 debt in question was accrued from 2016-2017. This alone makes it ineligible for credit bureau reporting. Secondly, it is not owed at all.
3. I had Gas South service from 2016-2022 at the same address. It is absurd to suggest that somehow Gas South allowed a customer to carry a $500 balance that never got paid, month after month for 5 years! Especially when their own website states that past dude balances are subject to disconnection after going unpaid. By this policy, my service should have been disconnected in 2017, 2018, 2019,2020. But it wasnt. It was disconnected in June 2021. In order to reconnect, I had to pay the past due amount which I did and service was restored.
4. I paid all past due balance upon reconnection. Therefore, there was no $500 balance from 2017.
5. At no time did Gas South reach out to me using the same email I currently use that was also the email my account was established under. I never received a past due bill from 2017-2022 nor was I ever contacted by any collection agency in order to dispute the validity of this debt.
6. Rather, 8 years after this account allegedly becoming $500 past due, a collection agency reports this as a new unpaid debt. It is neither new nor is it an unpaid debt.
7. I have filed disputes with the credit bureaus and with the BBB. I will continue to pursue all available options until this matter is resolved. These companies have failed to follow the guidelines set forth in the FCRA and need to be held accountable.

Surprise Billing
Gas South will gouge you with their variable rate plan, especially during the winter. Their website is also impossible to use because you cannot request forgotten password if you have two addresses on your account. Do not recommend.

Gas South is the worst
Been a customer for 10 years. Gas South is the worst. They have misleading and unclear communication (I'm sure it's on purpose) about their rates and plans then surprise you with charges at high rates and say there's "nothing they can do." Got a letter in the mail stating my contract was expiring soon but there was nothing I needed to do right now and they'd communicate again closer to the end of my contract. No more communication. Suddenly a bill for $341 and say it's because my contract expired. They're in control of what they charge you so I'm positive there's something they can do. Very unhelpful customer service who couldn't care less about helping customers.

After 20 years and never missing a payment, my account moved from fixed to variable. When I spoke with the rep, I was never told what the current variable or possible rates would be. My account went from a $.69 to $1.89/ therm more than doubling what I expected to pay. Customer service rep was cold and did not care about what I was saying. He offered me a $25 renewal credit. Thats what Im worth to the his company I guess. Terrible service for even their best customers.

My gas bill doubled in price
My contract with gas south ran out apparently the end of July. I didnt realize it. They knew that the colder it got, my gas bill would sky rocket. They could have a better warning, that your bill will double because of a canceled contract that they cancelled. I never have been late in 17 years. In comparison to my summer bill, its tripled in price. You cannot rely get caught up with everyday , you forget. If gas was the last gas company on the planet I wouldnt use it. They know that theyre gonna make a ridiculous amount of money in the winter time on a contract that has ran out well guess what you made that little bit but youll never ever get my business again screw Gas South and and all the senior people that work there thats doing this nonsense

Beware of Gas South
We had Gas South service at our business for several years and the bills were mostly consistent and then we received a bill that was triple. We called customer service and they said it was because our contract had expired. At the time we did not want to go through the process of finding service elsewhere so we signed a new contract. A year later we sold the business and I contacted Gas South and let them know that the our business no longer existed and to send me a final bill, which they did. Shortly there after they sent a bill for a $950 disconnect fee. I called them several times to let them know that the business no longer existed and there were no funds. They decided to hold us personally responsible for the fee and hired a ruthless collection agency to go after us. We were then hit by two subsequent hurricanes here in Florida and I called Gas South to see if they would give us any relief. After numerous calls they finally agreed to reduce the fee to $500, which based on our current financial situation due to the hurricane is a huge burden, but they only cared about getting their money. They are a multi billion dollar company and the $500 is inconsequential to them but means a lot to us. They don't care. If you have any other choice, do not buy gas from this company, in the end they will rip you off.

Please be careful with gas south their whole intention is to charge outrageous bill without any notification of sending bill to gmail or physically at address after expiring of agreement. They just like to take advantage the moment they see their customer not interested in giving them business

Bad Costumer service.
Please do not use this company for Gas. The bills are going from $75 to $499, no explanation. The worst part. They don't reply to emails and put you on hold for a long time to speak to a manager, but that person can't decide to fix the accounts. This place is frustrating, and they take your money without any explanation. PLEASE GO WITH ANOTHER COMPANY. The reviews are accurate at Yelp on this website, they only show the positive. Gas South has Bad customer service, takes your money, and no one communicates. They disconnected my account, but I had a renewal sign. I am getting charged, and no service, email, or call, and no one answers to give me my money back. This is crazy.
