    The short answer: as of September, 2026, Scana Energy offers the cheapest price per therm in Atlanta. But hang on just one second! That doesn't necessarily mean it’s YOUR best natural gas plan. Before choosing your next natural gas provider, make sure you understand all the important details. For example, you also have term lengths, other charges, and incentives to bring into the decision. So, let’s dig in and find out who offers the cheapest gas price per therm in Atlanta.

    5 Cheapest Gas Price Plans

    Let’s cover the basic costs of the 5 cheapest 12-18 month natural gas plans this month in Atlanta.

    Taking the top spot, we have Scana Energy 18 Month at $0.579 per therm. Also expect to pay a $9.95 monthly charge.

    For runner-up we have Scana Energy 12 Month at $0.599 per therm. Once again, we have a $9.95 monthly charge.

    Next up is Constellation 12 Month Home Energy Plan at $0.599 per therm. The plan has a $6.95 monthly charge.

    We also have Georgia Natural Gas® 12 Month Fixed at $0.649 per therm. However, there is an incentive of Greener Life® free for 12 months with a 5-cent discount. That brings the effective rate down to $0.599 per therm. The plan has a $7.99-$8.99 monthly charge.

    Finally, it’s Xoom Energy SureLock 12 at $0.659 per therm. This plan has a $5.85 monthly charge.

    Now, let’s run down what your costs for a year would be with each of these plans. These estimates include the average residential natural gas use, which is about 641 therms per year according to the Georgia PSC. It also includes the monthly charge.

    So, despite having the lowest rate, Scana Energy doesn’t necessarily offer the lowest cost because the monthly charge is high. The lower your overall natural gas use, the more the high monthly charge affects you.

    Avoiding Fees to Keep Cheapest Gas Price

    Getting the lowest rate is only half the battle. To spend the least on natural gas, you also need to watch out for fees and other avoidable costs.

    Firstly, you want to stick with your plan until the end of the contract. Otherwise, you’ll pay an early termination fee or ETF. For these plans the ETF is:

    • Scana 18: $200
    • Scana 12: $150
    • Constellation: $150
    • Xoom: $100
    • GNG: $100 in the first 6 months, then dropping to $50 in the second 6 months

    On the other hand, you want to switch to a new fixed rate plan just as the current one expires. Otherwise, the provider may roll you into their more expensive variable rate. For example, according to the Georgia PSC, the variable rates for these providers are:
