Even better, our state Georgia puts on some great events to help you celebrate. Also keep in mind that Earth Day is about conservation. Atlanta Children\u2019s Museum Earth Month<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

All month long, enjoy fun activities focused on learning about the Earth and conservation at the Children\u2019s Museum<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reduce Energy Use to Celebrate Earth<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Of course we can\u2019t forget that one of the best ways to celebrate Earth Day is by taking care of the Earth in any small way. At home, that could just mean cutting your energy use. And, bonus, that also lowers your natural gas bill<\/a>! Here are some small things you can do to make a big impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Lower your thermostat setting at night and when you\u2019re out. This saves about 10% per year on heating and cooling, according to the DOE<\/a>.<\/li>
  2. Sealing and insulation can save you 15% on heating and cooling according to Energy Star<\/a>. This includes small projects like caulking windows and weatherstripping doors. But it gets a little pricier to implement if you need to add insulation to attics or elsewhere.<\/li>
  3. Upgrade old heating and cooling equipment. For example, a furnace from 2000 may have had an efficiency rating of about 80% brand new. Today, a standard furnace will be about 90% efficient or better, meaning at least 10% less waste.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
