It has been a great year to shop fixed natural gas rates<\/a> in Georgia. High storage numbers and fortunate weather patterns kept prices low all year. In fact, many gas plans available now are much cheaper than a year ago. However, according to the EIA<\/a>, prices might go up soon due to more exports. So, let\u2019s compare cheap 12 month gas plans to shop for winter savings in Georgia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

12 Month Natural Gas Plans with Benefits<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s start with two plans that have lower rates than last year but are on the higher end of rates compared to other 12 month plans this year. But, these plans do offer incentives to try to offset those higher rates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Firstly it\u2019s the Gas South<\/a> Fixed 12 Month<\/strong> plan at $0.610 per therm. According to the PSC<\/a>, this rate is four cents cheaper than last year. Gas South offers $5 bill credits for your first ten months; that’s $50 total. Additionally, there is no deposit, which can keep up to $150 in your pocket. The plan has a $150 ETF and $6.95-$9.95 monthly charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now let\u2019s talk about the Georgia Natural Gas\u00ae<\/a> 12 Month Fixed<\/strong> plan at $0.529 per therm. According to past rates from Georgia Gas Savings<\/a>, this rate is ten cents cheaper than last year. If you switch from another provider, they will cover contract exit fees up to $200. Their ETF starts at $100 and drops to $50 after six months. Monthly charges are $5.99-$8.99.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shop Cheap 12 Month Natural Gas Plans<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

These plans have lower rates than last year and are the cheapest 12 month plans available this September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Firstly, it\u2019s the Scana Energy<\/a> 12 Month<\/strong> plan at $0.499 per therm. According to the PSC, the plan is 18 cents cheaper than last year! That price difference amounts to over $100 in savings a year for an average customer. The plan has a $150 ETF and $6.95 monthly charge. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, it\u2019s the Constellation 12 Month Home Natural Gas<\/strong> plan at $0.499 per therm. According to past rates with Georgia Gas Savings<\/strong>, this rate is nine cents cheaper than last year. Additionally, the provider offers the option of free water heater protection for a year (a $71 value) and HVAC protection for $19.95 per month. The plan has a $150 ETF and $6.95 monthly charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are keeping things going with Xoom<\/a> RescueLock 12<\/strong> at $0.509 per therm. According to the PSC, this plan is nine cents cheaper than last year. With this plan, Xoom<\/strong> donates 5% of your monthly energy charges to PetSmart<\/strong> Charities<\/strong>. The plan has a $100 ETF and a $5.85 monthly charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, it\u2019s the Xoom SureLock 12<\/strong> plan at $0.479 per therm. According to the PSC, the plan is also nine cents cheaper than last year’s version. Furthermore, it\u2019s the cheapest 12 month plan of September and<\/em> it\u2019s more than 5% less than the next cheapest plan. The ETF charge is $100 and the monthly charge is $5.85.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shop and Switch To a Cheap 12 Month Gas Plan<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Last year, natural gas prices trended higher likely due to lower storage numbers and expectations of a colder winter. When we ended up with a warmer winter, storage numbers went up. Production and storage stayed high all summer, giving us months<\/em> of lower gas prices. But, again, the EIA expects prices to go up as we head into next year.
